Sadly, Diva passed away at the age of 14 years, in 2017. She is missed by many clients and by me, her co-therapist.
Diva was a Certified Therapy Dog who started working with Ann in 2005. Diva has worked with adults, children, Wounded Warriors, hospitals and hospice, providing unconditional support and caring to clients of all ages. Diva was a rescued dog from the Longmont Animal Shelter who was evaluated by Freedom Service Dogs, and trained to be a guide animal for a disabled person. Unfortunately, Diva, who has a trauma history of her own, was not able to perform her duties as a guide dog, due to an anxiety disorder, and she became available as a therapy dog. She and Ann met in 2005 and have worked to help children and adults in work and high needs settings ever since. Diva has helped out in school settings, shelters and medical settings. She loves working! She has responded to seizures situations and other incidents where people have become anxious or worried. Diva takes medications every day to help with her anxiety and panic attacks. Diva loves belly rubs, peanut butter and as many treats as she can score!
